First week of competition for 2016

The 2016 Sabercat Track and Field team is about to undertake its' first week of competition. This year looks to be promising, and it all starts on Thursday at Littleton high school with our first JV meet of the season. See below for a brief rundown of the schedule for the next few days...

  • Wednesday: 
    • Uniforms will most likely be distributed to JV and Varsity athletes
    • Varsity athletes may not get their's until Thursday/Friday
  • Thursday:
    • Half day of school because of finals
      • Varsity athletes will practice at 11:45am
      • Continue/finish uniform distribution
    • JV meet at Littleton
      • Bus leaves at 2:10pm
        • Athletes do not have to take the bus, but they must be at Littleton High School by 2:50pm
      • The Meet starts at 3:30pm
        • Beyond that there is no schedule
        • Events will be ran in their order when it is time
      • Athletes do not have to stay the entire time but are encouraged to. Not requiring athletes to stay, usually means not many kids are left at the end, so for that reason...
      • Their is no return bus!
        • All athletes must find a ride home.
      • Athletes might compete at both JV and V
        • Most athletes are not slated to run at both meets, but after Thursday, we meet might want to see some of them compete on Saturday as well
  • Friday:
    • Half day, of school but practice is still at 3:20pm for all athletes
    • Continue/finish uniform distribution
    • Team dinner at 5:30 after practice. See email from Wendy Davis to signup to bring dishes
  • Sat: League Relays at Sports Authority Stadium
    • A bus will leave CVHS at 7:30am
    • Their is no return bus
    • If athletes drive themselves, they must be in parking lot by 7:50am and checked in with their event coach by 8am. We will have a tent in the stands which is a good central meeting point for all athletes.
    • Here is a rough meet schedule. All field events will start at 9am.
9:00 2 mile team race (1 heat, B/G, CC Scoring) 9:30 Hurdle (heats adding up time) 10:20 6400m Relay (Girls Section) 11:00 400m Relay 11:25 3200m Relay 11:50 800m Relay 12:05 Distance Medley Relay (800-400-1200-1600) 12:35 Sprint Medley Relay (100-100-200-400) 12:55 1600 Medley Relay (400-200-200-800) 1:20 6400 Relay (Boys Section) 1:50 1600m Relay 2:15 Weight Person’s Relays (4 x 100 meters) 2:30 Awards Presentation

Rough schedule for next week
Monday- practice
Tuesday- practice and team pictures
Wednesday- practice and fundraising due
Thursday- Host JV meet at CVHS (need parent help, look for email from Wendy Davis or contact Coach Whitenack)
Friday- Practice
Saturday- Varsity meet, ThunderRidge Invitational at Sports Authority Stadium.
