Both our lives were never the same after this night. We never knew that we could spend so much money and then never speak to one another again. Magical.

Odds and ends for this week

FIRST AND FOREMOST

Athletes, we told you about Sam Hermanstorfer today at practice. Sam did in fact have his appendix removed. I saw the pictures, it was an angry looking organ. I'm so glad to report that Sam is doing okay, as I'm sure all of your are happy to read it. I went to the hospital, but didn't get to see him before I had to leave. I plan to stop by and see him tomorrow AM. Pass on any encouraging messages to our awesome captain @samherm19 on Twitter.

JV MEET FOR THIS WEEK

Super important note: This meet is at Sports Authority Stadium in Parker, and not at Legend HS like our schedules say. The coach scheduled the stadium which was a surprise, but a nice one. Really nice place for our athletes to compete.
Secondary important note: There is no JV meet this Friday. This is the only one this week.

• Meet begins at 330
• Athletes are excused at 140
• Bus leaves at 200

Entries for JV Championships (the color coding really means nothing. Just distinction)

VARSITY MEET FOR THIS WEEK

• Grandview Invitational
• Meet is at Legacy Stadium @ Cherokee Trail HS
• Bus leaves 7am
• No return bus
• Do not have to ride the bus to the meet
• Prom attendees must stay until 2pm, or through their last event - whichever comes first
• Weather advisory: less than stellar weather expected and this stadium tends to run a little chilly as it is. Make sure you have plenty of clothes (waterproof?).

OH YEAH...

Parents, if you're reading this, congratulations for making it this far, but also I should mention something your athletes might have told you. Yesterday I announced to all of the athletes that I will not be returning to the school next year. I really did not want to tell the athletes, but I decided with my library position being posted (soon) there won't be much guessing what is happening. I wanted them to hear it directly from me, rather than second-hand from who-knows.

I have accepted a position as a Librarian at Cherry Creek High School for next year. I have no idea if I'll be coaching. I am incredibly sad to leave, but this is a positive step for me, my wife, and our (hopefully) our future family. It's been great working with your sons and daughters. It hasn't always been "fun", but I've loved it all. Thank you for all you've done for your kids and our team.

Simple guide for the buses to the meets this weekend

If you need to know about the bus situation for any meet, see below.

Thursday for JV

• Students can get out of class at 2:00
• Bus leaves 215
• No return bus

Thursday for Varsity at Legend Pre Prom Qualifier

• Students can leave class at 1:35 (check in with 4th per teacher)
• No bus to or from this meet

Friday for varsity at Liberty Bell at Littleton Public Schools Stadium

• Bus leaves CV at 2:10. Be here early
• No return bus
• You can drive yourself
• If in a field event, or the 100/110 hurdles be there by 3:00pm
• Be 1.5 hours before your event

Saturday for Varsity at GW Patriot Invite and Liberty Bell

• 1 bus will go to both meets
• Bus will leave CV at 7:30am
• Bus will travel to All-City Stadium to drop off kids for GW Patriot Invite
• Bus will then travel to Littleton High School
• There is no return bus for either meet
• You can drive yourself.
• If in a morning field event at either meet be there by 8:30
• If in the SMR 800 at either meet be there by 8:45
• Any other event be there a minimum of 1.5hrs before your event.
• Afternoon field event athletes for the GW Patriot Invite should arrive at 10:30am

Updates for our schedule this week

I know I told you some new things for this week at practice today, but things have changed since then. You gotta pay attention this week...

THE BIGGEST NEWS IS THAT WE DO HAVE A JV MEET THIS THURSDAY. I know I told you HR backed out of hosting this week and would reschedule, but to heck with that. We are competing this week on Thursday, but now it will be at ThunderRidge. They were good enough to take us in. Show them some appreciation on Thursday, please!

JV meet Thursday

• Where: Highlands Ranch High School     ThunderRidge High school
• When out of class: 200pm
• When is bus leaving: 215pm (no return bus)
• Who: TRHS, MV, Heritage, Litt.

Throwers and vaulters competing at Legend's pre-prom qualifier

Now for our plan this week

We're expanding opportunities!!! I mentioned at today's meeting that the meet schedule might change, and it has!

Here is what we have for meets:

A few varsity athletes will compete on Wednesday at Legend's pre-prom qualifier

• **this is most likely moved to Thursday now, or maybe canceled
• Where: Sports Authority Stadium in Parker
• Who: Some vaulters and some throwers only
• When: Begins at 3pm
• Depends on conditions of stadium--might be too wet with snow melt

JV meet Thursday

• Where: Highlands Ranch High School
• When out of class: 200pm
• When is bus leaving: 215pm (no return bus)
• Who: Highlands Ranch, Douglas County, Rock Canyon

Just added: Liberty Bell Varsity meet on Friday and Saturday

All of the above makes for some interesting situations for this week. Take note on the below...

--You may or may not have practice on Friday. Event coaches will determine if so, and the time.
--You may have noticed we have two varsity meets on the same day. This allows us more competitors, which is great. Please also realize that we only have so many coaches and your event coach may be at the meet you are not attending.

--We're going to have to be creative with buses. Pay close attention to times. 

--Entries: I will put them below, but like I have said in the past, these are not for sure until the competitions begin so check back a few times to make sure you know where you are going.

New schedule for Pomona Invite

Read Carefully: Big changes to the meet this weekend

• Looking at potentially very rough weather on Saturday the meet director from Pomona has had to make some changes to the meet
• These are very hard changes to make that impact a good number of athletes. The meet director is doing his best, and all things considered, his resolution is pretty solid.
• This meet will still be a two day meet on both Friday and Saturday
• The meet is now significantly different on both days
• All events will be run on Friday, but only the kids with the most competitive marks will run/jump/vault/throw on Friday
• We will know who those athletes are tomorrow afternoon
• Anyone that is entered, but does not run/jump/vault/throw on Friday will do so on Saturday, weather permitting of course
• This will be a finals only meet, now. No prelims. Including the field events: 4 throws/jumps
• The meet is also starting earlier on Friday now. See below for a schedule for both days...

What does this mean for us?

• I will have to get permission from administration for us to leave even earlier than we planned
• If we are approved, you will be excused at 11:45. Bus will leave at 12:00pm
• The requirement to ride the bus to and from the meet on Friday has been removed.
• You may drive yourself
• Stay in school later and get more work done if you wish
• Show up 1.5 hrs before your meet
• I'd plan on at least 1hr of travel to Jefferson County Stadium in Friday afternoon traffic
• Directions
• I do still encourage you to take the bus. There will be a return bus
• Saturday bus schedule does not change
• Bus leaves CV at 7am
• No return bus
