TR Invite schedule

I'd like to start by saying that today's practice was awesome! Definitely one of the best practices I can remember having at CV. When we get the kind of effort like we did today on that hill you just know it's going to payoff in a big way. Let's do it again tomorrow--sprinters, jumpers, and hurdlers have plyometrics and then a good technique day.

Here's the schedule for Saturday. Line-ups to come shortly.\

Assessment results

What a great practice today!
Lot's of good efforts, focus, and competition.
We love to see friendly competitions like we saw today, because that hopefully leads to not-so-friendly competitions in meets.

Below are accumulated scores for all 4 events you competed. Your efforts were sorted by time and  distance then ranked. The rank provided the point value; therefore, the fewer points you had the better (cross country scoring, for you distance peeps).

Tops in each event
 30m Sprint
Boys- Daniel Wheeler, 4.07s      Girls- Katie Wong & Annie Simon, 4.69s
 Standing 3-jump
Boys- Ryan Fila, 29-1                 Girls- Katie Wong, 23-3
 Overhead medball toss
Boys- Ryan Rila, 49-10               Girls- Kristie Albers, 36-0
 400m run
Boys- Zach Tidwell, 56.5s           Girls- Brittany Reiner, 62.8s

Ladies
 Gentlemen

We will try these tests again at some point. The goal is to improve times and distances, and move up the chart. Some of you at the bottom may be surprised how far you jump up this list with hard work over the next few weeks. For more details on how you performed, check the Google Drive spreadsheet that I shared to all of your school email accounts.

How's your shoes?

Well, it's summer and many of the readers of this blog should be getting some good running in. I know the distance crew is; Coach Kuhn told me he had nearly 50 kids show up for Cross Country conditioning on the first day. I am even getting into some running myself. I downloaded the Adidas MiCoach app onto my iPhone and have been running 25-40min runs. Speeds aren't too impressive, but it's getting better everyday.

Anyways, I ran into this great article on Lifehacker today. Do you know how important your running shoes are? You probably don't because you're a silly teenager, but, dude, they are super important! Check out the infographic below and then go read the article.
