Transportation update: Athletes can drive themselves. Athletes must show up a minimum of 1.5hrs before their event (if you are in the first events of the day that start at 9am, you can show up at 7:45). I recommend being there well before that. Check in with your event coaches.

Broomfield Shootout: CANCELED
Bad news just reached my email inbox: the Broomfield Shootout is canceled. The meet directors sited safety concerns, especially in the areas of the discus and warm up field as the major issue.
This is the second competition we have lost. That is a lot, but plenty of season still lays ahead of us. As we mentioned in practice this week, you have to be ready to compete at your highest levels when you get the chance.
We now set our sites on our next meets: the JV meet at Highlands Ranch on April 1st, and the Palmer Terror Invite on April 2nd, one week from today.
Practice for everyone at 3:20 on Monday. Meet in room 3400/3450.
Thanks,
Coach Nack

Disregard the below message!
Here are some items important for the next 4 day:
Saturday and Sunday. To the best of my knowledge there is no official practice for any group this weekend
- Not sure if that is true for distance
- Pole vaulters are able to join him at his indoor location on Saturday morning
- 200/400 runners need to go on a 35min run
- 100/200 runners need to go on a 20min run
- LJers/TJers need to do either 10x30m sprint with 90 sec rest, or 8 x 12 sec sprint w/2min walk as rest.
- No matter what group you are in, be active on both days.
Monday, for athletes not going to the varsity meet
- Practice at 3:20
- Meet on the track
- There will be coaches there to meet you to put you through a workout
- Bring your fundraising stuff on Tuesday if you have not turned it in yet
Monday, Broomfield Shootout Participants
- Important update on driving yourself:
- Because of the time of this meet, and it being on a school day, you are now allowed to bring yourself, or have a parent drive you to the meet.
- Please arrive 1.5 hours before your event (plan on 50min of travel to Broomfield High School)
- A side note, please do not contact me for address or directions to the school...you have as much access to Google Maps as I do. Use it!
- You do not have to stay until the end, but it is always appreciated when you do.
- You must print and fill out this form and give it to Coach Whitenack before 10:45am on Monday. Feel free to fill it out, take a picture of it, and send it by email or text.
- You are excused from class at 10:45am if you are taking the bus
- If you are staying later than 10:45 you need to communicate with your teacher if you are leaving in the middle of that class.
- Do not expect teachers to know about this situation with our track meet--they received an email excusing you, but they get a lot of these kinds of emails and they delete them. Can't blame them.
- The available bus will leave at 11am. There will be a return bus.
- Here are the entries again. As I mentioned in the last post there have been changes:
- The schedule is also included below again
- I highly doubt this meet will run on time past the boys 100m dash. Be prepared for schedule changes
- Bring plenty of food, water, and clothing. (this will be a long day...be prepared)
Tuesday
- We will meet in room 3400-3450 like we normally would do on a Monday.
Thank you,
Coach Nack

Broomfield Shootout: Postponed
THE RESCHEDULED BROOMFIELD SHOOTOUT IS NOW CANCELED DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS!
The varsity meet we had planned to go to on Saturday has already been postponed. The Broomfield Shootout has been rescheduled for Monday 3/28 starting at 1pm. We plan on attending with a somewhat abbreviated list of athletes and coaches. Here are some details.
The varsity meet we had planned to go to on Saturday has already been postponed. The Broomfield Shootout has been rescheduled for Monday 3/28 starting at 1pm. We plan on attending with a somewhat abbreviated list of athletes and coaches. Here are some details.
- A Saturday practice is now possible. Coaches will discuss and communicate this tomorrow.
- I plan on the bus leaving at 11am on Monday, this might change, but plan on that for now.
- Athletes attending must take the bus up to Broomfield high school
- Athletes do not have to ride the bus home, and are welcome to get a ride home with family.
- It is fully within your rights as an athlete (or the parent of an athlete) to decide that you/your athlete will not miss the first day of school after break to attend this meet. The coaches understand the tough situation this presents. If you/your athlete will not attend, please communicate that with me
- This will be a late night, most likely, so bring some food and drink that will last you throughout the day.
- The forecast is for mid-50 degree temperatures, but we will be there into the night when temperatures will fall. Have plenty of clothing.
- Athletes not participating in the meet will have a practice. Meet at 3:20 on the track.
- Athletes must have attended at least 3 practices this week in order to compete. There are a couple exceptions where 2 would suffice. Most of those exceptions I know about. If you think you are one please talk to me or send me an email.
- Entries are below. These are not finished. They can change all the way up until Monday at 11am. For instance, there are no distance entries on here. Distance runners are definitely going, they have just not been put on here yet. There are also some names that might come off, or some events that might change.
- A schedule for the meet is also right below the entries.
Practice canceled for Wednesday 3.23.2016

Schedule for week, 3.21 - 3.16.2016, Spring Break week
A few notes to start.
First, I want to mention the above picture, or more like the person that took it. Ann Mueller is a parent from last year's team that has volunteered to once again take some great pictures of our team when she can. She took a whole bunch at our League Relays varsity meet on Saturday, March 12th and posted them to her SmugMug site. You can view those pictures here. Thank you, Ann!
Next, we have 40+ athletes that still need to turn in their fundraising. Get those in to me at a Spring break practice this week.
And last, Spring break practice is for everyone. We want every athlete that is town there for practice. Last year a couple of parents believed (probably by their kids' persuasion) that practice was only for varsity athletes. That could not be more wrong. We hope to see as many athletes as possible. Please see the schedules below
Practice Schedule:
- Most events practice at 9am
- Meet on track everyday unless otherwise notified
- Athletes must attend 3 practices to compete on Saturday, and at least 1 for the events they want to compete in
- Sprinters, Distance, Hurdlers, LJ/TJers, Vaulters
- Throwers will be in the afternoon at 3:20pm
- High jumpers have a varied schedule.
- Monday: 9am
- Tuesday 10:30
- Wednesday 12:30
- Thursday 9am
- Friday 12:30
- Broomfield Shootout at Broomfield High School
- Running events start at 9:30 with an elite heat of boys and girls 3200m runs
- Field events start at 9:00am
- Bus leaves: 6:45am
- All athletes must ride the bus to the meet
- Athletes can leave with a parent, but are encouraged to stay the entire meet
- There is a return bus

JV meet results and ThunderRidge Invite entries
The Sabercat track and field team had a good performance in tough conditions today. The boys came in 2nd place to Chaparral, and the girls finished in first with 104pts (the next closest was Chaparral with 61). Great job to those that stayed and did all the events they could. Those actions make champions!
There were a good number of performances that were noteworthy, but I want to point out one that I think was truly unique. I think we have a decathlete in the making! Cole Oster (he's-a-freshman), helped guide his 4x100m team to victory today, and shortly after that ran to a 2nd place finish in the 800m. That is a combination you don't see very often ladies and gentlemen. Also, throw in the fact that he did high jump today, and the combination is all the more impressive. Keep up the hard work, Cole!
As an event group I'd like to congratulate the pole vaulters. They shut out the other teams completely. The girls had 13pts, and the boys had 16. Those are some big-time points. Nice job PVers!
Not all meets are like this one was today, weather-wise. Warmer days lie ahead.

It was a hotly contested draft. Coach Cook tried to Ram Coach Johnston's head through the screen on iMac. Twice.

First week of competition for 2016
The 2016 Sabercat Track and Field team is about to undertake its' first week of competition. This year looks to be promising, and it all starts on Thursday at Littleton high school with our first JV meet of the season. See below for a brief rundown of the schedule for the next few days...
- Wednesday:
- Uniforms will most likely be distributed to JV and Varsity athletes
- Varsity athletes may not get their's until Thursday/Friday
- Thursday:
- Half day of school because of finals
- Varsity athletes will practice at 11:45am
- Continue/finish uniform distribution
- JV meet at Littleton
- Bus leaves at 2:10pm
- Athletes do not have to take the bus, but they must be at Littleton High School by 2:50pm
- The Meet starts at 3:30pm
- Beyond that there is no schedule
- Events will be ran in their order when it is time
- Athletes do not have to stay the entire time but are encouraged to. Not requiring athletes to stay, usually means not many kids are left at the end, so for that reason...
- Their is no return bus!
- All athletes must find a ride home.
- Athletes might compete at both JV and V
- Most athletes are not slated to run at both meets, but after Thursday, we meet might want to see some of them compete on Saturday as well
- Friday:
- Half day, of school but practice is still at 3:20pm for all athletes
- Continue/finish uniform distribution
- Team dinner at 5:30 after practice. See email from Wendy Davis to signup to bring dishes
- Sat: League Relays at Sports Authority Stadium
- A bus will leave CVHS at 7:30am
- Their is no return bus
- If athletes drive themselves, they must be in parking lot by 7:50am and checked in with their event coach by 8am. We will have a tent in the stands which is a good central meeting point for all athletes.
- Here is a rough meet schedule. All field events will start at 9am.
Rough schedule for next week
Monday- practice
Tuesday- practice and team pictures
Wednesday- practice and fundraising due
Thursday- Host JV meet at CVHS (need parent help, look for email from Wendy Davis or contact Coach Whitenack)
Friday- Practice
Saturday- Varsity meet, ThunderRidge Invitational at Sports Authority Stadium.
That's all.
Go Sabercats!

Top 10 boys and girls sprint performances, separated by On-Rampers and Veterans
Here are the results of our sprints testing. I had to split them up into two different groups because the Veterans test was done a little differently from the On-Rampers (though some Vets did re-run their test yesterday), so some of them may appear in the top 10 of both.
There were three tests. The 30m Sprint timed you from the start to the 30m mark, the 60m Sprint timed you from the start to the 60m mark, and the flying 30m subtracts the runner's 30m Sprint time from their 60m Sprint time.
